NotiGist — Privacy Policy

Overview

NotiGist is a notification inbox app for Android. It reads your device notifications, stores them locally, and lets you optionally use AI to classify them into action items, events, due dates, and mentions.

We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly what data is collected, where it goes, and how it is used.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All notification content stays on your device in a local database. This includes:

• Notification title, text, and app package name
• Timestamp and read/sent status
• AI-derived items (action items, events, due dates, mentions) generated from your notifications

AI Processing (Gemini)

When you tap Scan with AI, notification text is sent to Google's Gemini API for classification. No scan happens automatically — it is always manual.

• Notification content is transmitted to Google's servers solely to produce the classification result
• You supply your own Gemini API key in Settings, or use the app's built-in proxy (see below)
• Google's data handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy

Built-in Gemini Proxy (Optional)

If you do not enter a personal API key, NotiGist routes Gemini requests through our own server-side proxy. In this case:

• Your device ID (a random identifier generated on first launch) is logged alongside the API call metadata (token counts, timestamp, success/failure)
• Notification content itself is forwarded to Gemini and is not stored on our proxy
• Device registration data (device model, Android version, app version) is stored to help us monitor usage and prevent abuse

Export Feature

You can export notification threads as plain text or JSON using the share button. Exported data is sent only to the app you choose (e.g. email, notes) and is not transmitted to NotiGist or any third party.

Notification Access Permission

NotiGist requires the Notification Listener permission to read notifications. This is a sensitive Android permission that must be explicitly granted by you in system settings. You can revoke it at any time from Settings → Apps → Special app access → Notification access.

You can also block specific apps from being captured inside the NotiGist app under Settings → Notification Sources.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers
• We do not use analytics SDKs or third-party tracking libraries
• We do not access your contacts, location, camera, or microphone

Data Retention & Deletion

All locally stored data is deleted when you uninstall the app. To remove proxy-side device logs, contact us at the email below and we will delete all records associated with your device ID within 7 days.

Children's Privacy

NotiGist is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
