PixOrganizer privacy policy

Last updated 16 October 2026

PixOrganizer is a photo library for Windows that runs entirely on your PC.

What stays on your PC

Your photos and videos, everything PixOrganizer learns about them (search index, text read from screenshots, ratings, picks, tags, duplicate groups, albums), your library database and your settings. None of it is uploaded, synced, analysed on a server, or shared with anyone, including us. There is no account.

When the app uses the network

Only for three things, each one visible in Settings:

  1. Downloading the AI model for search by meaning, once, when the installed version does not already include it (about 700 MB). The Microsoft Store version includes it and never downloads it. The request carries nothing about you or your photos.
  2. Checking once a day whether a newer version exists (direct-download version only; the Store version is updated by the Microsoft Store). The check downloads a small text file; it sends no identifier and no usage data. You can turn it off in Settings › About.
  3. Buying or checking a Pro licence: the Microsoft Store's own purchase flow (Store version), or the payment provider's checkout page in your browser (website version). A website licence key is checked on your PC; the app never contacts a licence server.

What we never collect

No analytics, no crash reports sent automatically, no advertising identifiers, no location. The app has no ads.

Files PixOrganizer writes

With your permission it writes ratings, picks and tags into your photo files (XMP), the same way Lightroom and Bridge do, and only when you change them. Moves, renames and exports are listed under Settings › Activity with Undo. Deleting always goes through the Windows Recycle Bin; a drive without one asks first.

Your data when you uninstall

Microsoft Store version: Windows removes the library database and settings with the app. Direct-download version: the library database and the downloaded model stay in %LOCALAPPDATA%\PixOrganizer so a reinstall keeps your work; delete that folder to remove them. Your photos, and the ratings and tags written into them, are never removed by an uninstall; neither is a vault or backup folder you chose.
